FERNANDEZ Y CANIVELL, S.A. was born about the year 1907 a.c. from the "modern pharmacy", whose owner was a country chemist, in the andalusian town of Montilla, Cordoba. The chemist's eldest son, after a serious illness and high fevers, remained very weak. His father, who was very concern about his son and about science, prepared a syrup from vegetarian extracts so the child could recover.


  The success was such that the fame started to spread all over Spain. They had to register as Pharmaceutical Laboratory, because the product was consider as a medicament in that time. The company introduced the product internationally in differents exhibition like Barcelona 1929, in which obtained several prizes.


Also, they moved the company to Málaga, in order to have a sea port nearby to ship the product all over the world, about 1930 a.c. During decades, the company was growing and growing with only one product. In the seventies, Fernandez y Canivell needed a better and more modern factory, but also the need of expanding the business with new products for other nutritional functions. A new factory was built in the area of El Viso, Málaga, where more than ten new products were launched to the market.


At present, Fernández y Canivell, as a health company, is focusing in the pharmacy industry, choosing to this goal the medicaments called "selfcare health", before named E.F.P. (marketing pharmaceutical speciality), so to complete the Health Care products range. In the new premises, as the company had to carry out the quality standards for medicaments, decided that all the products, no matter the category, will be produced respecting the G.M.P. (Good Manufacture Procedure) rules, as a guarantee for quality and control.


 In order to fullfill this challenge, a new premises of 4.000 m2 have been built in the Science Park of Andalucia, with the latest and most modern technology available for the pharmaceutical industry. From the beggining, the designers and architecs responsible of the proyect planned every detail to carry out a quality system in a logic way, correctly established so the elaboration of syrups and of any product developed in a near future obey the rules of Correct Fabrication. The Quality Risk Managment will run through Analysis and Control of critical points and the juxtaposition of another quality control system such as ISO 9001:2008 and the General Hygiene Plans.


By last, the implication of the human capital of this company is total in the achievement of this goal: the establishment of the GMP rules. Every worker, from managers to operators, is excited and involved in this quality objective, because we all know that responsability=quality=future, this is, our growth and future is subject to the certainty that we work guaranteeing the security, quality and efficiency of our products.


Because of this reason we have given education courses for the retraining of the staff and several meetings have been hold between the responsibles of different areas to combine the laws and regulation with the coherence in the working procedures.
